North India tours - Rajasthan, Taj Mahal and the GangesThere are endless treasures in North India, and our Independent North India tours or modules as we like to say offer some amazing opportunities in this region. Our starter packs can help to ease you into Indian culture, cutting down on the culture shock. We can then take you on a journey to Jaipur after one night in the peaceful countryside near Delhi, bypassing the capital on arrival. Delhi is a very hectic city and it can be pretty overwhelming, so we believe that it is better to save it until the end of your trip. Jaipur is more relaxed and rich in tradition – not to mention textiles and jewellery. This makes it an ideal starting point for your North India tours. It is also a convenient base for trips to Rajasthan, Agra and Varanasi. |
Authentic Starter Pack
North India tours really put your sights and senses to the test. As soon as you set foot on this subcontinent, you’ll be overloaded with colours, sounds, and smells. If you begin any of your North India tours in Delhi, perhaps India’s most intense city, you might find yourself a little overwhelmed but dont worry you will get acclimatized to it pretty quick. When you arrive in Delhi, we’ll take you to a comfortable hotel near the airport where you can recover from your long flight. After a comfortable night in the peaceful hotel, you’ll travel by car to Jaipur the following day. In Jaipur you’ll stay in a charming family hotel and experience Indian hospitality first-hand. Private transport is provided, ensuring a stress-free beginning to your trip. |

Camels and Castles in Rajasthan
This is one of our most popular North India tours as it takes you to the most famous spots in Rajasthan and helps you to get to know the colourful state in an unusual way. As you travel between the Mughal forts and Rajput palaces in the cities, you will get a real feel for the abundant countryside, full of tropical fruits and golden husks of corn. Gradually, the fertile land will give way to extensive desert, where the brightly coloured saris and turbans stand in startling contrast to the barren landscape and the many camels, mules and vultures give the land more than a touch of the exotic. |
Jaisalmer Camel Safari
From Jaisalmer we offer a mode of transport high above the sands, swaying a little, with bad manners and very bad breath. What other way to set out into a desert than by camel? They may be odd, stubborn, smelly, and easily distracted, but they are also charming and unlike any other animal on earth. This North India tours module takes you on a one-night desert adventure by camel. After your tiring camel ride on the first day, the guides will prepare a delicious meal for you and you’ll sleep in a cosy tent. At night, when your camel is chewing happily next to your tent, you'll find yourself appreciating your humpbacked friend. We attempt to avoid the very busy tourist routes and you’ll pass through typical desert villages during our North India tours of Jaisalmer. |
Desert Forts and Clay Huts
Explore the real India with desert towns and beautifully decorated clay hut villages during this unique module. You’ll start your voyage of discovery in the magical desert city of Jaisalmer, where the ancient sandstone fort blends into the horizon almost like a mirage. During your trip, you’ll leave Jaisalmer early to drive to to the city of Bikaner with its characteristic old centre before eventually making your way to the region of Shekawati, renowned for its colourful havelis. These are beautiful merchants’ palaces, richly decorated with murals on the outside and inside. When the trip is over, you’ll be taken back to Jaipur to continue on your journey with another of our North India tours. |
Tigers and Turrets
If you choose this module from our North India tours you will get to meet two very different characters; one is a large striped carnivore who stalks through the tropical jungle and waits for unsuspecting gazelles at the lakeshore. The other is a gigantic fort towering over the park and providing a fantastic lookout-point for spotting wildlife. Ranthambore is a classic national park, and officially the second best place in the world to see a wild tiger. Even better we offer some great North India tours from Jaipur which will take only a couple of hours by train to this area. In the park, there are many shooting lodges and hideouts leftover from the heyday of the Maharajas, which give the whole area a sense of majesty. You’ll set out on several safaris during this module and visit the fort at sunset to get a panoramic view of the incredible wildlife at dusk. |
Havelis and Camel Carts
The mysterious Shekawati region is packed with magnificent havelis (grand merchants houses), which are intricately decorated both inside and out. These havelis were the homes of the Marwari merchants and while some still live in the region, others have abandoned their homes and followed their business to the big cities. A few have preserved their home as a museum to a bygone era. During this unique North India tours, you’ll spend two nights in a stylish desert resort in Mandawa. This authentic and quirky resort offers local hospitality and you’ll sleep in charming fully furnished clay huts complete with traditional furniture, well maintained grounds and a swimming pool. During your stay, you’ll take a guided camel safari out to a nearby village where rural desert life continues at a timeless pace- this is sure to be a memorable and unique highlight of your Rajasthan tour. |
Wonders of the World
This is one of our most popular North India tours and best of all it guarantees to leave your spellbound. The absolutely awe-inspiring Taj Mahal is only one of the spectacular wonders of the world that will cross your path en route from Jaipur to Agra. The amount of incredible marvels strung along this small 200km route is mind-boggling. Many travel organisations offer a Golden Triangle Tour that features Delhi- Jaipur- Agra but we believe that the triangle tours leaves some of the best stuff out. If you go on this North India tours you will be amazed by mystical Galta stunned by the wildlife in the wetlands of Bharatpur spooked by the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri and stunned by the fairytale Red Fort of Agra. |
River Ruins and Lost Temples
This module begins in Agra and takes you east to two very different and fascinating places en route to Varanasi. To begin your north India trip, you’ll visit the peaceful medieval town of Orchha. It's name means 'hidden place' and it does feel a world away from the busy city of Agra. Here you can explore the scattered riverside ruins, colourful streets, temples and old palaces. Vultures fly among the old chattris that sit serenely on the banks of the beautiful Betwa River. After this, you’ll travel on to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Khajuraho, renowned for its ancient temples covered in complex scenes and some surprisingly beautiful and graphic erotic carvings! Here the teachings of the Kama Sutra are depicted in several temples which are more than 1000 years old. This module provides an alternative for people who are not keen on taking a night train between Agra and Varanasi and also want to look beyond just the most popular and touristy highlights of North India. |
Varanasi Holy Rituals on the Ganges
The final module in our North India tours will help you to explore the holy city of Varanasi. Varanasi is a city that will pull at all the senses: it's crowded, hot and chaotic but also maintains an aura of wonder. The city is built on the banks of the holy river Ganges and believers come to Varanasi from all directions to honour the river goddess. A prayer is offered, sacrifices are made, and some families even make the journey to cremate lost loved ones. You will go on an unforgettable sunrise boat trip, floating slowly through the morning mist, witnessing the city slowly coming to life. Immerse yourself in the real India ... |
