North India tours - Taj Mahal in northern India

North India tours - Rajasthan, Taj Mahal and the Ganges

There are endless treasures in North India, and our Independent North India tours or modules as we like to say offer some amazing opportunities in this region. Our starter packs can help to ease you into Indian culture, cutting down on the culture shock. We can then take you on a journey to Jaipur after one night in the peaceful countryside near Delhi, bypassing the capital on arrival. Delhi is a very hectic city and it can be pretty overwhelming, so we believe that it is better to save it until the end of your trip. Jaipur is more relaxed and rich in tradition – not to mention textiles and jewellery. This makes it an ideal starting point for your North India tours. It is also a convenient base for trips to Rajasthan, Agra and Varanasi.

After these adventures, you can continue your North India tours by climbing up into the foothills of the North Western or North Eastern Himalayas. Here, you’ll find vast open spaces, peace-loving monks, tea plantations, palaces of gold and, of course, the snow-capped peaks of the mightiest mountain range on earth. Please see our India Trekking modules for North East India and Independent India Travel page for the North West India for more details.

You can put together a range of North India tours using the modules listed below with the quote request form, or simply send us an email. You can also combine North India with a Goa holidaySouth India tour (and the Maldives) or even with modules in Nepal with our North India Travel suggested itinerary.

***Prices below are valid until 30th September 2013, are based on two people travelling (excluding international flights). Prices for departures beyond this date and for international flights are available on request. For departures during peak seasons (e.g. summer holidays, Christmas and New Year) supplements may apply.

Camels and Castles in Rajasthan

Duration: 7 days, 6 nights
Price: From AUD$799 per person - based on 2 people sharing
Offered: Daily from Jaipur
Route: Jaipur - Pushkar - Udaipur - Jodhpur - Jaisalmer

This is one of our most popular North India tours as it takes you to the most famous spots in Rajasthan and helps you to get to know the colourful state in an unusual way. As you travel between the Mughal forts and Rajput palaces in the cities, you will get a real feel for the abundant countryside, full of tropical fruits and golden husks of corn. Gradually, the fertile land will give way to extensive desert, where the brightly coloured saris and turbans stand in startling contrast to the barren landscape and the many camels, mules and vultures give the land more than a touch of the exotic.

Jaisalmer Camel Safari

Duration: 2 days, 1 night
Price: From AUD$125 per person - based on 2 people sharing
Offered: Daily between August and April from Jaisalmer

From Jaisalmer we offer a mode of transport high above the sands, swaying a little, with bad manners and very bad breath. What other way to set out into a desert than by camel? They may be odd, stubborn, smelly, and easily distracted, but they are also charming and unlike any other animal on earth. This North India tours module takes you on a one-night desert adventure by camel. After your tiring camel ride on the first day, the guides will prepare a delicious meal for you and you’ll sleep in a cosy tent. At night, when your camel is chewing happily next to your tent, you'll find yourself appreciating your humpbacked friend. We attempt to avoid the very busy tourist routes and you’ll pass through typical desert villages during our North India tours of Jaisalmer.

Ranthambore is a classic national park, and officially the second best place in the world to see a wild tiger. Even better we offer some great North India tours from Jaipur which will take only a couple of hours by train to this area. In the park, there are many shooting lodges and hideouts leftover from the heyday of the Maharajas, which give the whole area a sense of majesty.
