Tea Time in Darjeeling
Separated from Nepal and Bhutan by snow-capped peaks, Darjeeling lies in the northeast foothills of the Himalayas and so light India trekking is a great way to explore this area. The cool hill station is surrounded by emerald tea plantations, and home to a fascinating mix of Indian, Nepalese, and Bhutanese people. During the module, you can wander through plush forests, enjoying the fresh mountain air and exploring bright Buddhist monasteries. At the end, you can toast the trip with a steaming mug of Darjeeling – the champagne of tea. This is an excellent spot to begin a journey into the Himalayas, as well the gateway to the undiscovered state of Sikkim and neighbouring Bhutan. |
Treasures of Sikkim
On this light India trekking module you will get a true glimpse into the Tibetan culture and lifestyle in Sikkim. Sikkim lies at a lower altitude than Ladakh in the west, which means that it is greener and easier to reach, and it is full of undiscovered treasures for adventurous travellers. These spectacular foothills have become home to many exiled Tibetan monks who kneel in richly decorated monasteries, chanting gentle mantras and spinning colourful prayer wheels. You’ll visit the tranquil towns of Gangtok and Kalimpong, as yet untouched by mass tourism and bursting with Tibetan charm. |
Tibetan Temple Trek
This module is for active travellers eager to go on a India trekking experience through the mountain Shangri-la of Sikkim. This India trekking experience is fairly easygoing and last only a few hours at a time, so anybody with a reasonable level of fitness can take part. You’ll walk through emerald forests and past meandering streams, with tea plantations spread out before you and the highest mountains in the world as your backdrop. After each fantastic day, you can lounge in the grass, staring at the snowy peaks glistening in the mountain sunshine. |
