Located at the foot of the Kanchenjunga mountain range, the temperature in Kurseong is relatively mild and nice a refuge for Indians who want to escape the heat. You'll stay in a restored British colonial house at the foot of the Himalayas. You can enjoy the view of the green tea fields and the majestic Kanchenjunga, one of the highest mountains in the world, from around the hotel. After you arrive, you'll have the rest of the day free to explore the area.

Day 2: Kurseong to Darjeeling by Toy Train

After breakfast you will have a tour of one of the local tea plantations where the tea is still picked by hand and processed in small factories. Afterwards, you will be driven to the local train station where you will board the toy train to Darjeeling. The journey takes around three hours on a narrow trail with great views of the mountains and tea terraces along the way.

Darjeeling radiates serenity and calm; it is an island city surrounded by fresh green tea fields and from almost every hotel you have sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. The streets are narrow, steep and typically busy as usual in India, with dozens of ramshackle stalls selling anything and everything. you’ll find yourself encircled by snow-capped mountains, some reaching heights exceeding 8000metres (over 26,000 feet). The afternoon of your Darjeeling tours is very relaxed and you’re free to explore on your own for the rest of the day. The accommodation we have selected on this Darjeeling tours is in a peaceful, comfortable hotel with spacious rooms.

Day 2: Darjeeling and surrounds

On the third day of your Darjeeling tours you will be up early to make it to the top of Tiger Hill before sunrise. From here, you’ll have a fantastic view of the first beams of sunshine appearing between the snow-capped Himalayas. As the morning mist disappears from the valley, the view will become even more amazing, you’ll then drive to the oldest Buddhist monastery in Darjeeling dating back to 1875. An english-speaking guide will accompany you through the grounds and explain the history of the building.

In the afternoon of this independent Darjeeling tours, you have free time to do as you wish. You could visit the museum about the history of climbing in the Himalayas, take a trip to the zoo with its rare red panda and snow leopard, or go to the Tibetan refugee centre, where exiled Tibetans make clothes and carpets from local wool.
