Day 1: Kurseong, arrival in the mountains
After your arrival in New Jalpaiguri by train (or by flight to Bagdogra), you will be met by one of our representatives and transferred to your hotel in Kurseong. The drive takes about two hours as you whiz past the Indian plains with high mountain peaks in the background. Located at the foot of the Kanchenjunga mountain range, the temperature in Kurseong is relatively mild and nice a refuge for Indians who want to escape the heat. You'll stay in a restored British colonial house at the foot of the Himalayas. You can enjoy the view of the green tea fields and the majestic Kanchenjunga, one of the highest mountains in the world, from around the hotel. After you arrive, you'll have the rest of the day free to explore the area. |

Day 2: Kurseong to Darjeeling by Toy TrainAfter breakfast you will have a tour of one of the local tea plantations where the tea is still picked by hand and processed in small factories. Afterwards, you will be driven to the local train station where you will board the toy train to Darjeeling. The journey takes around three hours on a narrow trail with great views of the mountains and tea terraces along the way. |
Day 2: Darjeeling and surroundsOn the third day of your Darjeeling tours you will be up early to make it to the top of Tiger Hill before sunrise. From here, you’ll have a fantastic view of the first beams of sunshine appearing between the snow-capped Himalayas. As the morning mist disappears from the valley, the view will become even more amazing, you’ll then drive to the oldest Buddhist monastery in Darjeeling dating back to 1875. An english-speaking guide will accompany you through the grounds and explain the history of the building. |
